[EDIT] YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS I-I GOT IN ksjdbfkasd ;//v//; [/EDIT]

:icons-ecret-s-ervice: character application

My tablet isn't working right anymore so I had to do the lineart on paper, scan, and only coloured it on the PC. That's why it's so shaky in some spots.

I'll probably keep fixing minor lacks/mistakes for a while so please forgive all the edit alerts...

Since it's an application, textwalls ahead, but I'm sure you guys are already used to this from me hahaha...haha...ha....

Name: Fujiwara Kaede (藤原 楓)
Gender: male
Age: 19
Birthday: 9.XI (9th of November)
Height | Weight: 158cm (aaalmost 5'2) | 48kg (~105 lbs)
Species: Karakasa (aka Kasa-Obake)
They are umbrella/parasol youkai of the Tsukumogami type. It is said that once an item has reached the age of 100 years, it turns into a youkai - this rule applies here. As such, though, they don't really possess any sort of special powers and being long-lived is pretty much their only good side.
SS: Toshiro Mori
Occupation: Not exactly an occupation, but he earns his money by making bets with sailors and gamblers regarding weather from time to time.

Description:
Skinny and short, with a somewhat wiry body. When in human form, he has dark, almost black hair that appear to have a slightly purplish tint forming what seems to be a permanent bed-hair. Unruly as it is, it's always sticking out for some reason, only the longer strands falling in a more obedient manner, covering his left eye on top of a simple white eye-patch. He seems to never take it off. His visible eye is blue. He's usually seen wearing simple clothes in dark colours and he seems to be quite fond of shorts, vests and ties. He's also never seen without his umbrella or the ribbon on his wrist. He's often wearing a hat when going out, too.
His youkai form, on the other hand, has reddish hair that grows just a tad longer when he transforms, though most characteristics of his everyday hairstyle stay. The visible eye turns red with a vertical pupil, and if you pull away the hair covering the left side of his face, you will find yourself looking at an empty socket. That would be because the eye of his is now on his umbrella, which turns from casual red to a somewhat gloom purple and aside for the eye, also develops a mouth - the tongue usually sticking out - and a leg from its handle, clad in a white sock tied with a red ribbon and a geta shoe. It's also what the human part of him is wearing on his left leg, the right one held up with bandages, since it's completely useless in this form, limp from thigh down. So in order to keep balance better and not have to drag it around, it's tied. The red ribbon is gone from his wrist and is around his neck instead, and the Western clothing is replaced with a somewhat worn-out yukata with faded clouds and rain pattern, pale blue over dark grayish blue, with brighter trimmings, held in place by a red stripe of fabric.
He doesn't have many abilities at all, seeing how he is merely a karakasa. In fight he mainly relies on speed to dodge and hit with the umbrella, but he's not really strong. His only good side would be being long-lived, and perhaps the fact that he seems to be able to somewhat float (though nowhere near as well as an ittan-momen). That's pretty much it as far as his abilities go, though. Instead, he has to rely on dodges and luring enemies into traps if possible. If not - run and hide. Survival above all else, after all.
A major downside to his youkai form is that he really is one with the umbrella. If the parasol gets "hurt it will affect him as a whole when in this form. Much less in human one.

Personality: Cheerful and somewhat cocky, he usually knows what he wants and hates boredom. Stubborn about being independent and holding a slight grudge against both his family and youkai, though he doesn't quite go around showing it openly unless really provoked. He tends to be just a tad mischievous and in early teens tricking people has become one of his hobbies - the other being making bets (when he knows he's going to win at least).
He makes friends easily, or should I say - gets along with others easily, though whether he's actually respecting the person he's talking to might be a whole different story altogether. "It's all business" is what he's grown to think and as such might not be honestly attached, despite what it might look like.
He won't hesitate to take advantage of others (though he does have his sense of morality and never goes too low about it) and all in all, when he does something, it's either for the kicks or because there's something in it for him. Usually material.
In fact. Just. Total materialist. Feel free to blame it on him being an "item youkai".

Background | History: Born into one of minor branches of the old Fujiwara family living in Yokohama, he's never been considered a possible heir for even a moment to the family's business. Branded since birth as a cursed child and shoved away for the butlers and maids to take care of without much care for what he does, he's been growing in relative luxury provided by the house, but with closer ties to lower class than to the rich family of which blood was in his veins. The family paid for him, provided for him, but never took actual care of him.
And all that thanks to a simple dose of ignorance. When one of his ancestors mingled with a demon of a simple umbrella, it hardly brought the family any pride. While some others were lucky enough to bear offsprings of youkai either powerful or beautiful or, at the very least, luck-bringing, this minor branch of the Fujiwara house had no such luck. Ashamed, the fact has been covered up and considered a taboo since there on. The blood thinned as generations passed and the only display of its presence was greater longevity than that of most people. Soon, the fact that they had youkai blood has been entirely forgotten in the family and as such, when a child with odd eye was born, taking the life of his mother away, all it caused was fear and prejudice.
Kaede ever since learned to keep his left eye covered and as he grew, his grudge against his family deepened. Barely speaking to his father, much less to anyone else spare for one uncle that didn't seem to mind it in the slightest, the boy grew up sneaking out of the mansion, walking the town, visiting the port. As such, it didn't take long for him to become street smart... though much less refined than it might have been expected of a child of an old, respected and wealthy family.
At the age of 6, he came across an umbrella in one of the stores that somehow just pulled him in, and he immediately bought it, though it was awkward and big for him back at that age. He's rarely gone without it since, and when he matured more and went through his first time transforming, he stopped leaving it behind altogether, deciding it to be part of him. It's also from that point onwards that he's been growing increasingly aware of weather and its changes. It didn't take long for him to decide to put the new skill to use, and soon, at the age of 13 he could be seen in the ports, making bets with the sailors about the weather. And winning those, hence, for the first time in his life, earning his own money and starting to really appreciate its value.
From one of the maids, he learned about the youkai and after some research and asking around, heard some gossip regarding a villa somewhere in Japan for the elites, for the rich people, with high security. A few bribes and pulling out old contacts here and there and he reached rumours about strange things sometimes happening around it.
And so as a self-present for his 19th birthday, he left the house he grew in (the maids and butlers promising to send him still the money that was meant for him from the family) for the search of the mansion. Using the money won and earned, with just a single trolley suitcase and his umbrella in hand, he eventually arrived at the steps to Maison de Umagoyashi.

Additional Info: He has a bad habit of sticking his tongue out at people.
And just a tiny quirk of his, but it seems like whenever he's outside when it's raining, animals are pulled to him like to a shelter, so he might sometimes find himself just standing there with cats and dogs and birds just sitting around him close to his legs as though it was going to save them from the rain and getting wet. It never does, of course, but it looks like they are convinced otherwise.

What was the competition for...?

I really like your character profile. It sounds interesting. :3
