Description

Again a roleplay app. This time for :iconland-of-erion:
This time I gave up even on digital colouring and did it all in pen (lineart) coloured pencils (most of the colouring) and a tiny bit of paint (colouring details, like light in eyes and the golden net over some of her outfit blah).
Those laced elements will need their own reference if I am to ever draw her again sob :I

This is probably going to be edited so many times, SO many times... I apologise in advance orz

To those few of you waiting for me to do your commissions, I WILL get there. It's just that my tablet being out of it since a while ago is making the process much harder, since I'm trying to lineart on paper... and gods know that's hard for a perfectionist like myself orz I'm sorry I'm taking so long though... ;;

Name: Crina Palmir
(When introducing herself when outside the palace, she uses the fake name "Tiia"; also she has taken up a pseudonym Ah-Crina ("Red Lily") )

Age: 16

Gender: female~

Species: Valentinian

Class: Magician (Apprentice)

Height: 150cm

Personality: A cheerful young girl with an aura that speaks either of mischief or of mystery... or both. She enjoys mingling among other people and sticking her nose where it doesn't belong - although she tries to do it rather discreetly. Life taught her its lessons, though, and she generally tries not to provoke anyone or ask for trouble openly. Which, of course, doesn't mean she won't enjoy them to their fullest once they come. She's an optimist in that she always tries to see the bright side of things and use it as motivation to keep on going. "If something isn't good enough, make it be good enough", is one of her mottos. A strong believer that one makes their own place in the world and life.
She has guts, and is often quick to laugh. Doesn't like wasting her time moping and if she's in a bad mood, she'll always try to find a way out of it - usually by going for a stroll or by getting engrossed in reading or research (though, seeing how a lot of it focuses on herbs, it often had either a relaxing effect on her, or quite the opposite - depending on what concoction she'd end up making through means of "oh let's see if I put together this and that!").
The habit of trying to stay out of trouble no matter what leads to a sort of lack of initiative in human contact, although she will most definitely not turn down another person's advances in that direction. She's the kind of person who would just stare are you from across the street with a slight smile if you don't approach her. Same goes for hitting on, mind you, so careful with that.
She spends a lot of her free time sneaking into the town. Life at the palace might be comfortable, but streets are where she grew up and where she will forever feel more at home. Though, of course, she has enough common sense to not go out dressed in her rich magician outfit ("Doing that would be like standing in the middle of the street and yelling at the top of your lungs, 'HEY, I'M RICH AND JUST ASKING FOR TROUBLE, SO COME HERE AND ROB ME ALREADY DAMMIT'!")
She respects life and living things... well, mostly. She does have the rather cruel habit of using Towla (the Hanaberisto) to find other Mandragoras that she later uses for her experiments. At the very least, she's doing her best to get rid of the habit of stealing stuff.... with mixed results.
Having a strong dislike for any sort of boundaries and limitations (and hence, also laws and rules a lot of the time), she's most definitely enjoying her current position.
This said, her only actual loyalty lies probably in herself.

Likes: books, plants, experiments, eating plenty, stealing (though she's fighting hard to kick the habit)

Dislikes: excessive mess/dirt, getting caught red-handed (on ANYTHING), people who think they world revolves around them, being outsmarted, limitations, excessively spicy foods

History: She still belongs to the generation that was born before the Valentinians came to Erion, and as such, her earliest childhood was spent without knowing of the wonders of the new world they came to, rather surrounded by technology and magic devises than nature. In result, she quickly became fascinated with it, the flora especially - it being something she's never seen before, in such variety at that. But she had no means of conducting actual research despite her overflowing curiosity, being a low-born and spending most of the time trying to get by on daily basis. Poverty is the daughter of the silk merchant, as they say, and the same held true for Valentinians. Despite general wealth that quickly became recognised by other kingdoms, it also meant that the gap between the rich and the poor was all the bigger.Stealing quickly became one of her main means of survival, although she also learned soon after how to use being a girl to get food and money... and how to keep safe while at it, too. Growing up in the streets of the still-building city left her with quite the amount of experience, and although she sometimes admit it wasn't all rose-coloured, she doesn't resent her life, nor her mother that left her soon after they landed in Erion, choosing a life of discovery and adventure (or so she said in a conversation with some foreigner that the girl - at the age of 9 back at the time - overheard) over her duties as a parent. If asked, Crina would probably say that she's grateful because it made her into who she is today.
Her curiosity being perhaps something she got from her mother, the girl was soon to follow her footsteps to an extent, and would often leave the shelter of the ship and the growing city and explore the surrounding territories instead. There was a time even when she went too far and got herself lost in a forest to the south, near the territory of Ringford. There, for the first time, she encountered the Mandragoras, a few of the plant-like creatures running away from her the moment they were discovered (a result of her stomping her leg in frustration, actually), but one, smaller than others, tripped in its haste to escape, and was left behind. Picking up the cowering miniature Hanaberisto, she eventually managed to calm it down (back then not really knowing what the species could be used for) and after convincing it that she will not harm it, decided to keep the specimen. With a bit of his help (well, not like she really knew what gender the Mandragora was - it was just a hunch, something that felt right to do) she found her way out of the forest, and back to her home. Despite that incident, she still would go out every now and then beyond the slowly expanding borders of what was soon going to be known as the Kingdom of Valentine, but it wasn't until she was a bit older that she dared venture as far as on that day.
Her life on the streets did not last for eternity, though. At the age of 13 she found her way to the palace, though it was a mixture of her bad habits and of pure luck. She happened to rob one of the court mages. Caught a while after, already having gotten rid of most of the valuable stuff on the market, she was lucky enough not to be handed over to the guards, but to be taken in by him instead to work off everything. Cleaning up and doing all sorts of odd jobs for him, she'd sneak a peek at his books now and then (the ability to read being one of the few things her mother personally taught her) and trying to learn magic on her own whenever the mage was out. Obviously, his ignorance could only last that long, and one day, she has been found out... and once more luck was on her side. Deciding that the child has potential, the mage took her for his apprentice, and she's been studying under him from there on out, on the way developing some new habits... that, once again, were not necessarily good.
Her master might have known his stuff, but he wasn't too bright otherwise, and not to mention, when frustrated, tended to drink, and wine would always loosen his tongue... so Crina had to listen a lot of the time his complaints over politics, and before either of them knew, she was giving him advices that he later passed on higher up, hence becoming a puppet master of sorts as he started making his way up the trust ladder in court. In return, in addition to practically being the one advising, she got herself her own room for experiments as thanks from her master, although she still did keep her old home (if one can call the small space that) in one of the more hidden, poorer parts of the capital, at the outskirts. Now, 16 years old and quite the lady, she spends most of the time either in the research room, or venturing the city... or advising the mage how to advice. They both still have a long way to go, though, but lately, his words started being praised more and more.
