[EDIT - fixed the description. The sheer amount of mistakes and awkward phrasing... /shudder ]
Ge-chaaaaan~
Actually, her name should be shortened to "Gert". Or eveeentually "Ger". But somehow, I got used to calling her "Ge-chan" because back when I designed her, I didn't have a name for her - so it was just that. Germanium. Ge. Ge-chan.
No, it's not a slightly modified Waffen-SS uniform, what are you talking about, hahaha....haha...
I should probably stop experimenting with traditional media when taking breaks from the animation project. It leads to me doing weird stuff. Like combining ballpen, colour pencil and black ink to get the right texture for the coat, even if it's totally not as well visible on the scan. Well then.
Also, the "miscellaneous" section ended up being lumped together with her personality description. Her quirks are directly attached to that, that's why...;; Hope that's fine.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Gerhart Margit Eisenbrandt
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Division: Flammable
Rank: Member
Element: Germanium
DESCRIPTION
Height: 5'1
Weight: 48kg
Looks: She appears to be very frail - brittle, even ((hahaha okay that was lame)). However, despite being very short and very skinny, she has a well-trained body, with tight bundles of strong muscles underneath pale skin. Long, somewhat metallic (in terms of colour, or rather, the way it reflects light) gray hair is kept in a single ponytail, and occasionally - though very rarely, and only when she knows no one will see - braided. Her eyes are probably the most peculiar, being a dull gray but with rings of colour right around the pupils - bright blue in her left and yellow in her right eye. There is a scar visible on the left side of her face, going through her brow and down her cheek. The cut was not too deep, so luckily it did not injure her eye. She also has a few scars here and there - mainly arms and back from trainings in knife-fight - but they're usually concealed by her clothes.
Clothes: She's seen wearing a gas mask everywhere she goes, her default uniform is a fine wool coat that looks like it used to belong to a military uniform - definitely not originally hers, either, since it's quite a bit oversized. It's kept in place with a brown leather belt with a yellow metal clasp bearing engraved symbol of the Flammable division. It secures another leather belt that goes across her torso and has a small bag attached, resting against her right hip (and concealing a handgun holster). The image is completed with comfortable pants, yellow-dyed suede gloves and black leather boots (which she makes sure to keep shiny clean at all times - and in which she keeps knives).
Underneath the coat she's usually wearing one of her many slightly worn-out tank tops, or - if it's cold - a simple long-sleeved shirt. When not wearing her uniform coat, she can often be seen walking in just that. Well, and pants, obviously.
Weapons: An old but well-kept Walther P-99, a knife, and Molotov cocktails.
If possible, when going into a fight, she tries to take out as many opponents as she can by shooting them down, just for the sake of being pragmatic to a fault.
If this is not possible to begin with (small room, surprise attack, any condition that will call for a close-range combat) or she runs out of bullets, she more than gladly switches to using a knife. She isn't too strong, but for lacks in strength and flexibility she makes up with her speed and endurance. Skilled in knife fighting more than using a gun, although she seems to enjoy killing, she's no sadist - she will always try to kill in one hit.
Another tool she enjoys using are Molotov Cocktails. It's more of a last-resort weapon, though, as far as using it for fight itself is concerned - and will most likely be used only either at the beginning of a fight or when fleeing. However, she always throws one after defeating all opponents. .
Power: Out of all Germanium properties, she only seems to have two developed on a level that could be called "useful".
One of them is immunity to acids (spare for sulfuric acid, although even that seems to work very slowly when applied), and pH changes do not seem to affect her in any way.
The other power is semiconductivity. She can store and amplify electricity in her body to a certain extent, however, it depends heavily on the conditions around her, mainly the temperature, and is a bit unstable - the more electric energy gathered, the bigger chance of an electric short. Coincidentally, this also sometimes happens when she's nervous, although on a much smaller scale.
Remains of other powers can be observed occasionally, however, none of them seem to be well-developed. Most notable are cases of her starting to glowing faintly when blushing - and might do so also when too close to some elements.[1]

PERSONALITY
Gerhart is a very quiet person, usually isolating herself from others, and most happy when spending time alone. This is mostly a result of not having a chance to interact with almost anyone as a child, and it runs strong as her main trait even now. Very withdrawn, she doesn't speak unless asked, and even then, tries to avoid eye contact - unless being given orders. In that case, her manners resemble that of a soldier, down to straight posture and saluting.
That attitude might sometimes lead to trouble as well. In a way, one could say that she won't do anything beyond keeping herself alive and training unless ordered. Interacting with others included. Asking questions will only lead to her withdrawing further, although she will never actually avoid a person, no matter how troublesome or uncomfortable she finds them.
Shy and actually quite self-conscious about her body in a way, she prefers to avoid being seen without her uniform. For some reason, it seems like she's fine with having her arms exposed, but wearing short pants would be a no-no, talk about dresses or skirts. Too deeply cut shirts or tops are a no-go as well. The very same way, she keeps her gas mask on when possible, although there's another reason aside for not liking to show her face (she worries that she might look weird if accidentally displaying any emotion). You know how there are people who act like they're high if they spend a lot of time on fresh air? Think of something along those lines when it comes to Gerhart. Higher oxygen intake seems to lead to her slowly going crazy - and the more time spent without her mask, the worse it might get. Hence the gas mask filtering the air to keep a certain oxygen level at all times.[2]
Forced into social situations, she will keep herself on the side, partially observing others (without much interest usually) or just let herself be swept away by her thoughts. She's probably the wallflower of parties (putting aside that you'd have to order her to go to one for her to appear on a party at all, that is).
If by some miracle someone manages to break through and get close to her, however, they might find her to be actually loyal and comforting, in the way an ancient tree gives off a reassuring, strong feeling. She might not say much, but if one manages to befriend her, she most probably won't have to say much anyway. Once opening up, she's the kind of person that seems to be able to convey her thoughts and feelings with small gestures, or even just glances.
Not being good at handling human interactions also leads to another issue - that of physical closeness. Try to pull her into a hug, or even just to put an arm around her - and you are sure to feel her tense up, turn red (and by small chance, start glowing faintly) and electrify. The rest is 50% chance of her playing a dead log and just staying there petrified until the nightmare is over, and 50% chance of whoever it was that initiated the contact to get kicked or punched off without much gentleness and her running away to lock herself up somewhere. Don't expect her to scream or even squeak, though.
The only time when her personality seems to undergo a change is when she's fighting. For some reason, she enjoys killing, and it shows, eyes widening in joy and if you listen carefully enough, you might hear her laugh underneath the gas mask. The normally slow, careful, almost seemingly sluggish movements become fast and precise and filled with life. As mentioned, though, she has no actual sadistic tendencies. She simply learned to find joy in the very act of taking lives - preferably, from close-up. A slight deviation of a child brought up as a fighter, not knowing a different purpouse, if you want to look at it that way.
She's a nice girl, deep down, though. She won't kill just anyone. Although not quite understood by her herself, nor entirely conscious to begin with, she has a sense of righteousness, and would never harm an innocent person.
Her habit of throwing in at least a single bottle of Molotov Cocktail to the scene of the fight might also be interpreted as part of her little inner moral code. It's a sort of burial on spot, although lacking much subtlety or proper celebration - the symbol of fire as medium for leading fallen warriors into the afterlife stays.
Despite her strong belief that her destiny is to be a soldier, she still kept some individuality and took interest in things not entirely befitting a living weapon. Perhaps steming from a not entirely realised desire to help others, she spends a lot of time reading books about biology and medicine - she's not very good with the subject, though, but still seems to have quite a bit of interest in it.[3] Observing plant and animal life, although hard to come by, is one of the things she enjoys most. Aside for that, she can be sometimes seen with a tome of old German poetry.
When it comes to food, she's not picky, spare for one thing. She dislikes onions. Smell, taste, texture, everything about onions. So if possible, she either chooses foods that do not have it as one of their ingredients, or those where it's reduced to a form that is not distinguishable in itself. Otherwise, she'll eat almost anything edible. She seems a bit fond of semolina-like foods. She has no particular taste when it comes to decorations or clothes, though. She just likes to keep it practical and useful, without pointless gadgets. Plain and gray is the best way to go, as far as she's concerned. But, perhaps, getting a plant or two would be nice... she doesn't think she could handle taking care of a pet, though, so as much as she likes observing animals, she'd rather keep her distance all the same.
Side notes:
[1] Some Germanium salts are electroluminescent.
[2] Germanium naturally reacts with oxygen, which is why it's not found on its own in natural state - so being exposed to too much oxygen leads to Gerhart slowly "losing herself", in a way.
[3] Germanium has no medical use so far despite many attempts of finding one by scientists.
Gert sounds good too btw XD
and WHY ONIONS, LOLL Onions are awesome!
Gert is actual real German nickname for people called "Gerhart" that's why, it's Gert for short XD It's kinda cute. Though it's a male name actually. Gerhart. XD Margit is female name though. So it's.. yeaaaah. manly names FTW~
And lmao I DUNNO MAYBE BECAUSE I DON"T LIKE ONIONS but it's mostly like, she is just so neutral to practically everything remotely edible that she needed at least one thing like that. And since onions make for a good quirk because they're also annoying to peel/chop, I went along with it? XD
That was like what, a small brief paragraph of description.
And yeaaaa manly names. Heheheh.
WHAT DID THE ONIONS DO TO YOUU ;A;
And I did put a lot of
overthinking into Gert here, so...THEY WEREN'T TASTY THAT'S WHAT ;A; Or well, more than the taste, it's the texture that bugs the hell outta me ;;
